Didnt have time to bleed my clutch today. I smell clutch from time to time, I think Im wearing it. Its really inconsistent and its difficult to predict how its gonna feel, Im not driving it well due to this fact. I should have time Sunday afternoon. I HAVE to do it then.

Check your fluid level and top it off/bleed it if necessary. If the problem persists, it may be time for a new clutch! Hopefully it’s just a simple and quick bleed.

If you think it’s wearing a bunch, be mindful of how much gas you’re giving it when taking off/shifting gears. Too much gas too often can wear a clutch down. I assume the clutch on the truck is the one it came out of the factory with?

I think it’s time for a new clutch plate. Bleeding may solve consistency issues but not wear.

Oh hell no, the clutch isnt original. It was done in september by the PO, I found the receipt for it when cleaning for passover, $964. I tend to be a bit light with the clutch, but I taught my brother (mostly) how to drive it and Ive been teaching Jake Huitt (mostly) how to drive it. The fluid is a bit dark. I think it just needs a bleed

Teaching a few people shouldn’t be really effect the overall life of the clutch unless they killed a ridiculous amount of times. If the fluid is dark, it could be gummed up with some junk. Flush it out, bleed it and you should be back to normal! I’ve had to do that to my Datsun. It’s easy but time consuming.

Ya, I know. I think Im causing premature wear though. But I got lucky with this truck, The PO kept EVERYTHING. I have every repair order done on the truck, the oldest being from 1994. Who keeps paper that long? I also have the warranty card for the truck, the warranty form for the shell and liner, even the business card for the salesman that sold the truck originally. Also, he logged everything, I have an entry in the manual’s repair log section that reads “waxed, 10/94, 3000 miles”

I bought a hand-pumped vacuum brake bleeder at AutoZone for like $30 that I used last time I bled my clutch. Was able to do it by myself in a few minutes. Definitely worth the purchase.
